| | Property Description | La Porcherie is in a tranquil rural setting in Deux-Sevres, surrounded by fields. Our two gites are set side by side on level ground with French doors leading to individual terraces with table and chairs plus barbecue overlooking the 9x6metre swimming pool, which is fully fenced and gated. The grounds are spacious and bordered by two small streams. Both gites are equipped to a high standard and all houehold linen is supplied and changed weekly. Swimming towels can be supplied at a small extra charge. We can also provide a high chair or booster seat if required and a cot is also available. La Petite Maison has a doube en-suite bedroom downstairs which can be suitable for disabled use. There is adequate parking in front and plenty of quiet shady spots can be found to sit and read, snooze or star gaze at night. Either gite is avalable for long or short winter lets by prior arrangement and we are on site for advice or information | | Property Location | This area of Deux-Sevres is undulating with some wooded parts and a number of small lakes. It is ideal for walking, cycling or bird-watching if you want ot give the car a rest. Nearby, at Secondigny there is a Plan d'eau ( water park ) and a large outdoor pool and pedalloes. About 15 miles away at Mazieres is a delightful 18hole golf course. There is also horse riding in the vicinity and numerous forest walks within easy reach. For those seeking the sea , La Rochelle and the Vendee coast are about an hour away. At the same distance are Futuroscope at Poitiers plus the renowned Puy du Fou Park. The historically interesting towns of Bressuire, Niort, Poitiersand Parthenay with its medieval streets and ramparts are easily accessable. The wonderful towns and chateaux of the Loire Valley are ideally situated for a visit. Opened in 2001 is Pescalis, Europe's largest inland fishing facility with about 100 hectares of water, where equipment can be hired, no permit required. We are served by airports at La Rochelle (80 mins) and Poitiers (50mins). This is rural France, quiet and stree free offering a large number of unusual places to visit and customs to observe, as well as a wide variety of wildlife. |
